Robin Wall Kimmerer
Robin Wall Kimmerer is a mother, scientist, professor, and member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation. She is the author of two novels so far, Braiding Sweetgrass and Gathering Moss.
Take a moment right now and listen to The Serviceberry: An Economy of Gifts and Abundance. Seriously, go now. You won't regret it. You will instantly know why I love her writing. More than any other author I’ve heard, she brings the concept to life of Two-Eyed Seeing (popularized by Albert Marshall). She seamlessly weaves scientific and Indigenous knowledge.
Hearing her read from her books leaves me feeling enriched, empowered to see the world in new ways. One of the most influential passages for me was Kimmerer’s vision of leadership from the view of a strawberry; leaders go first. Wherever your heart wants you to go, I wish to accompany you there.
