Communications for Academics

Knowledge mobilization
Publications are an important and necessary part of academia. Publishing new knowledge helps disciplines grow, expand and remain relevant in a changing world. With open access journals, university free presses, and online platforms, academic articles and books are becoming increasingly accessible.
We can mobilize knowledge in new fields and directions by adding appropriate interventions from a wider toolkit such as social media, art or civic installations, podcast and media interviews, film and video, handbooks or other print or digital materials.
Implementation science
What if we took a more strategic approach to ensuring important knowledge reaches policy analysts, decision-makers, and professionals so they can act on the latest research in the field?
Implementation Science considers how to increase uptake of new research findings into professional and practice-based settings by providing people with the information they need, when and where they need it. This may require getting creative with formats, settings, partnerships and collaborations.

Evaluating what works
In academia, empirical evidence is a key characteristic in building new knowledge. When communicating research, we also measure what works so that we can do more of that, and less of the things that don't.
